Hosea 11:1-11  Even though Israel has been unfaithful, God will not abandon his people.
Psalm 107:1-9, 43  “O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.”
Colossians 3:1-11  Those who Christ has raised up must live a new life in him.
Luke 12:13-21  Jesus’ parable warns us against complacency and false security.

Aug. 15: Twelfth Sunday after Pentecost
Isaiah 5:1-7  The prophet compares Israel and Judah to an unfruitful vineyard.
Psalm 80:1-2, 8-19  The metaphor of a ruined vineyard to describe God’s people.
Hebrews 11:29-12:2  We are close to the fulfillment of God’s promises to his people.
Luke 12:49-56  Jesus warns that his coming will bring upheaval and division.

Aug. 22: Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost
Jeremiah 1:4-10  God calls Jeremiah to speak a word of warning and judgment.
Psalm 71:1-6  In you, O Lord, I take refuge.”
Hebrews 12:18-29  Through faith, believers can participate in God’s new order of creation.
Luke 13:10-17.  Jesus is reprimanded for healing a woman on the Sabbath.
Theme: “Straighten Up!”

Aug. 29: Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost
Jeremiah 2:4-13  Israel is a “cracked cistern” that will not contain God’s living water.
Psalm 81:1, 10-16  “O that Israel would walk in my ways.”
Hebrews 13:1-8, 15-16  Christian life is mutual love, hospitality and simplicity.
Luke 14:1, 7-14  “Those who humble themselves will be exalted.”.

Adult Choir
Rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings, 6:30 p.m., in the choir room. The choir sings during worship on the first and third Sundays of the month.
